What is Chiron in Astrology?Meaning & Symbolism
Pronunciation:
Chiron, known as the 'Wounded Healer,' is a minor planet representing our deepest insecurities and spiritual wounds. It shows where we feel perpetually 'broken' but also where we possess the greatest capacity to heal and guide others.
The Symbolism of Chiron
In the cosmic landscape, Chiron occupies a unique orbit between Saturn (the boundary-maker) and Uranus (the rebel), acting as a bridge between traditional structures and evolutionary breakthroughs. Discovered in 1977, this centaur-class minor planet is named after the immortal centaur from Greek mythology who was a master of medicine but could not heal his own wound. In astrology, Chiron identifies the specific area of our lives where we experience a recurring sense of deficiency or rejection. Unlike the transformative intensity of Pluto, Chiron’s lesson is one of acceptance—learning that our 'wound' is not a flaw to be fixed, but a sacred doorway to our most profound empathy and wisdom.
